Our new dog! | Angela Lang Bay Area Dog Photographer

It’s been a while since I’ve blogged about dogs since our Boxer passed away, but I’m ready to jump back in by introducing our new dog! He’s a mis of an Australian Cattle dog and we think the other half is Australian Kelpie Sheep dog, which is a descendant of the dingo. He’s been the perfect addition — full of energy yet easy going. He can hang with us at home and plays really well with everyone. Then, when we take him to the dog park he immediately starts herding all the other dogs. It’s so funny to watch. He must think some of the really big dogs look like small cows that need to be put into place.

Our Holly | Angela Lang Bay Area Dog Photographer

Our Holly was a sweet and loving dog. It took us all of 2 days to fall in love with her and before long we felt as if she’d been in our family for years. She was incredibly gentle with my kids, had great manners, and we received compliments wherever we went on her behavior and striking appearance.

After only 5 short weeks we lost Holly to bloat, but not before she changed all of us for the better. She and my son bonded very quickly and I loved seeing their connection. I discovered that I was a dog person. Her gentleness helped me to get over being shy around dogs after being attacked by a German Shepperd the previous year. And my youngest one had stopped being spooked out by dogs.

Perhaps one of the biggest gifts she gave us was getting our family out together on afternoon walks with her. We all enjoyed it. What I will miss most is her goofy side — that ‘kidney bean’ curl that she did when she got excited about going outside or when we played with her. She definitely filled a void that we didn’t know we had until she came into our lives.                         – the Lang Family

It just occurred to me that there are readers who would probably love to know about Dogologie, owned by my friend Lauren. She makes the most adorable, chic dog collars.

A girl named Lou | Angela Lang Dog Photographer

I met Lou yesterday while on assignment to photograph her owner, the uber-talented Jennifer, founder of Young Artists Workspace YAWS in Berkeley. Lou is a super sweet female Heinz 57. She was surrounded by children and was as gentle as could be. The shoot ended with a spontaneous playdate with brown, furry Standard Poodle.

Could a dog be any more beautiful?  I hope to look as good as she does when I’m the equivalent of 10 in dog years! Ruby is a Greater Swiss Mountain dog (also called a Swissie) and she was a perfect model. I love how she looks like she’s guarding the front door of her house and family.

This was another sweet and very gentle Labrador…actually, I’ve never met a lab that I didn’t like.

What a beautiful dog to photograph. She was very cooperative during the photo session, and she was super photogenic.
